Kurt got home today after 6 days away for work in Indianapolis and then work / fun in Chicago. I nearly cried at the airport when I picked him up because I was so relieved to have him home. It was a tough week to say the least. The boys had a knack for crying at the same time in the evenings. Luke '
stimmed' most of the day Tuesday and Thursday and cried himself to sleep Wednesday through Saturday nights. He also woke up for several hours in the middle of the nights. I even had to call in reinforcements a few times during the week just to hold Bennett as I calmed Luke down. Again I am at a total loss as to the cause. I hoped he would be cheered up by Kurt being home but today wasn't much better. It was obviously that he liked the attention from Kurt but still cried most of the day. Since Luke does like the car and being out and about we thought we'd give a local pumpkin patch a try. This is a pumpkin patch on steroids and really more of a kiddie amusement park. We did get the first smile (in 4 days?) out of Luke on the mini-train ride below. I got lots of comments on Bennett's pumpkin outfit (the hat really is the kicker!). We did get a couple cute pictures and some nice lady came and took a picture of the 4 of us in the patch but with both kids crying we gave up on that one.

Smile on the train

A very tired pumpkin

Kurt also had both kids by himself last weekend while I was in Nashville for my friend Carrie's wedding shower. We had such a blast hitting up our old favorite restaurants, watching the Commodore's beat Auburn and celebrating Carrie's upcoming nuptials.
While in Chicago Kurt did some work on our rented condo (re-grouted the shower, fixed windows and other odds and ends). He also got to meet new niece Emily and stay with Paul and Megan. Originally the trip was supposed to include a trip to Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs in the playoffs but let's not even TALK about that! What a disappointment!
On a very happy note, Bennett has been smiling at us a bit. He also seems very interactive with lots of eye contact and has great head control already. 10 weeks today. I am so thankful!

The pumpkin patch on steriods sounds fun. Being alone with crying children does not. Sorry! I missed Kurt while he was here. Mostly because I am lame and I go home by 11pm. Miss you!
